Celebrate Every Day… A Reminder.

I have photographed Carolyn personally and professionally many times over the years.  She’s one of my dearest friends, and is an amazingly inspirational mum of four, businesswoman, and friend.  She is the epitomy of “I don’t know how she does it!”  (Actually I do – she’s one of the most incredibly organised people I’ve ever met, and is incredibly focused on whatever the task at hand is.  Her time management skills are, quite frankly, sensational!)

Anyway, earlier this year I received a request from Carolyn to do a new session of family portraits.  It had been a few years since our last session with her brood, which are always lively to say the least (and usually involve at least one child hanging upside down)!  This year however was something a little different.  Carolyn had just learned that her beautiful 4-year old, Oliver had to have a major surgery which was not without considerable risk.  So these shots were to capture the family in this little moment of time, when life was happy and sweet, and kids were being kids without worrying about hospitals and doctors and question marks over the future.  This is that moment in time.

I am happy to report that Oliver’s surgery went extremely well and he is back to being the sunny, sweet little guy he always has been.  For me, as a mum, it was just another reminder to “Celebrate Every Day”, you just never know what’s around the corner…

Turkey By iPhone

In April this year I happened to find myself back in the beautiful country of Turkey.  I had been there once before, in 2002, and had longed to go back ever since.  I often describe Turkey as a country that has everything – great people, beautiful and amazing landscapes, the crystal clear water of the Mediterranean, history, culture, and a great contemporary vibe.  Oh, and the best food!  Anyway, so here I was back in Turkey, and although I had my ‘real’ camera with me, this time around it felt cumbersome, and well “obvious”.  So I took most of my photos with my phone.  For some reason I have yet to embrace Instagram, but I love my Pic-Tap-Go app, with it’s endless possibilities for exposure, filters, and lots of other options.  I love the results, they really capture the spirit of this gorgeous destination.  (Yes, they are my feet…twice! It’s my favourite way of taking a ‘selfie’ when I travel!  I have many photos of my well-travelled feet…)

One For The Dads! Happy Fathers Day!

I first met Nathan and Tammy when I photographed their gorgeous Sorrento wedding a few years back.  Last time I saw them they had just become proud parents to little Izzy, who, at only about a month old, was so tiny in her little bassinette.  And now, two years later, there is another addition to their family… beautiful Indiana.  Now as this is a special Father’s Day post, I would just like to mention Nathan, who, like my own husband, and my own father, is a sports-loving, blokey kind of bloke who has been thrust into a strange twilight zone that being Dad to two little girls creates – a world of princesses and tea parties and unicorns.  Daddies and their daughters have a very special bond, so to Nathan, to my huband Matt, to my Dad Jeff, and to all dads out there, I wish you a very happy Fathers Day, thanks for all you do, and may you receive something other than socks on Sunday!

Thanks Susan. I’m really thrilled when a couple like Tammy & Nathan keep inviting me back to document the ongoing story of their lives :-)

Alexander – Super Bundle of Cuteness!

For the first new blog post of my pretty new website, I would like to introduce you to Lynne and her gorgeous little fella, Alexander. Lynne and I went to high school together many moons ago, and her expertise as a brand manager helped to steer the direction of my new look and logo, which I’m pretty happy with!   Lynne has just returned to work after her maternity leave, and on her days away from Alexander she misses him terribly.  These images capture their special bond together, and as with all of my work, serve as a reminder of how every day is special, and how quickly time can pass by.

P.S – Love the great beanie with the pom pom in ‘Clever Girl Yellow’!
